“No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on top of a lampstand so that those who enter can see the light. Nothing is hidden that won’t be exposed. Nor is anything concealed that won’t be made known and brought to the light. Therefore, listen carefully. Those who have will receive more, but as for those who don’t have, even what they seem to have will be taken away from them.” Jesus’ mother and brothers came to him but were unable to reach him because of the crowd. Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.” He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who listen to God’s word and do it.” (Luke 8:16-21, CEB)
Who is in the family?
Those who are in Jesus’ family are those who listen to God’s word and do what it says.
They are those who love unconditionally. Put no rules on who is allowed and who is not. Those who judge their actions over the actions of others.
Those who work on removing the plank from their eye before working on splinters in others.
Everything we do and the reason we do it is known to God and that is all that matters. Do not make others happy with your actions, work to please God.
