“Take care that your hearts aren’t dulled by drinking parties, drunkenness, and the anxieties of day-to-day life. Don’t let that day fall upon you unexpectedly, like a trap. It will come upon everyone who lives on the face of the whole earth. Stay alert at all times, praying that you are strong enough to escape everything that is about to happen and to stand before the Human One.” Every day Jesus was teaching in the temple, but he spent each night on the Mount of Olives. All the people rose early in the morning to hear him in the temple area. (Luke 21:34-38, CEB)
The season of my life right now is one of anxiousness and uncertainty. And I read here Jesus says to not let our hearts be dulled by the anxieties of day-to-day life.
Easier said than done there Jesus.
But what I read here is that we have something much greater than what is happening to us now. We have something more precious than anything that can and does weigh us down. We have a God who is intimately involved in our lives and knows the things we are facing and knows the things we are going through and cares for us.
So take care that you remember that, more than the things around you that weigh you down.
And love as you are loved.
Loving People. Loving God.
