17 Brothers and sisters, I urge you to watch out for people who create divisions and problems against the teaching that you learned. Keep away from them. 18 People like that aren’t serving the Lord. They are serving their own feelings. They deceive the hearts of innocent people with smooth talk and flattery. 19 The news of your obedience has reached everybody, so I’m happy for you. But I want you to be wise about what’s good, and innocent about what’s evil. 20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. (Romans 16:17-20, CEB)
Be on watch for people who will cause problems against the teachings you have learned. This in and of itself is a lifetime task.
Some of the things we were taught were not what we should have been taught. So when we see new information that is proven factual and is against what we were taught, then we must change to the new understanding. This is a hard thing for all of us. We do not want to believe what we learned was a lie. And honestly it wasn’t. We learned what we thought was right based on what we knew, and now we know better so we need to to better.
Stay grounded in the faith and use the mind God gave you to discern what God’s will is and do that.
Love People. Love God.
