They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved. (Acts 2:42-47, NRSV)
So how does a church grow?
Is this the same as Mary how does your garden grow?
Well a church grows not by having a good pastor. Or even by having a great pastor…
A church grows because they are an Acts 2:42 church. They are devoting themselves to teaching and fellowship, to breaking of bread and praying. They are gathering for worship and allowing the word of the Lord to infect their lives.
They will also not hold anything back, or look out for selfish gain. They will give as the Spirit fills them and flows through them, and give to all in need as the need.
This is how a church grows and if this is how the church is growing it will be unstoppable, because God is in it!
