Come to him, a living stone, though rejected by mortals yet chosen and precious in God’s sight, and like living stones, let yourselves be built into a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in scripture: “See, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious; and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.” To you then who believe, he is precious; but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the very head of the corner,” (1 Peter 2:4-7, NRSV)
let yourselves be built into a spiritual house…
I read that and thought of the song Sanctuary:
Lord prepare me to be a sanctuary
pure and holy, tried and true
with thanksgiving I’ll be a living
sanctuary for You
That seems to be the verse we all know, God will sanctify us and make us pure, holy, tried and true. He will prepare us, and make us who He needs us to be.
I feel this is seen in this verse which seems to be unknown:
Holy Spirit fill this vessel
make my heart to burn within
purify me, make my life be
a sanctuary for you.
If we will come and allow the living stone to make us into a spiritual house, and the Holy Spirit to fill us and purify us, then our lives can truly be sanctified for His use!
