Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day— just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire. Jesus died to save people… Yet those who did not know there proper place, He kept in chains…
The way Jesus called the disciples and all of us is the same. He told them to follow Him. Yet He also used the same words to say to Peter when he told him He could not go to Jerusalem to die. There Jesus said to Peter, “get behind me, Satan.”
The words Jesus used to call the disciples in the Gospels, was the same words in Greek for “get behind me.”
Jesus is telling us to take our proper place. If we can not see the back of Jesus’ head, we are not in the proper place. We need to follow, and be behind Jesus. Not to seek our own way, or our own desires, but follow wherever He leads.
