Above all

20121229-103953.jpgPut on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:12-17 ESV)

Have you ever had a hard time dealing with someone because they were rubbing you the wrong way? Or has someone gotten on your last nerve by just disagreeing with you and saying you were wrong all the time? Has someone ever told you what you believe is wrong and you are a fool for doing that? Or how about if you voted for a certain candidate in an election you are stupid?

We have all been in at least one of the above situations if not all or many of them. And in today’s lesson we are told to forgive them, to be patient with them, to be compassionate and kind to them, and above all we are to love them. Is this easy? No it is not, but Jesus does not always give us stuff that is easy, He gives us stuff that needs to be done. We are called to love like Jesus loved us.

So let Christ dwell in you and His love to overflow you..
