Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness. So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. (1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 ESV)

We are not to worry about the times on anything.  We do not need to worry ourselves with this. The times that God has planned for things is under His control and will be done according to His plan.

Plus the verses above say that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night when we are saying “there is peace and security.” Well the way my life is now, this day will never come! I can hardly image a day of peace and security. Not that my life is hard or at war. I have a very blessed existence compared to a lot of people in the world, but there is unrest and uneasiness in my life…

So maybe we are looking at this wrong…

Maybe our peace and security are not things we can see and feel. They are not attributes that we control. The peace and security that will bring the day of the Lord is when we all are resting in the peace and security offered to us by God. You see even in the face of uneasiness, and unrest, God is still with us and He is guiding us and walking with us as we journey.

So know that you can not know when the day will come or when things will happen, but rest assured that you have peace and security in the arms of a creator that loves you more than you deserve.
