The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous
and his ears toward their cry.
The face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears
and delivers them out of all their troubles.
The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.
Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the LORD delivers him out of them all.
He keeps all his bones;
not one of them is broken.
Affliction will slay the wicked,
and those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
The LORD redeems the life of his servants;
none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.
(Psalm 34:15-22 ESV)
Have you ever felt like you were all alone?
Have you ever felt like nobody cared?
Have you ever been in trouble and cried out in anguish in the middle of it?
The holes are deep and dark we can get ourselves into. We can see all of the evil around us and see no way out of what is going on. We sink deeper and deeper into depression and start to wonder if there is anyway out. We scream and shout and kick and throw a tantrum… And nothing seems to get us any where… Everything is black and only getting darker…
But even in our darkest pit, the eyes of the Lord are upon us…
Even when we feel all alone and like no one cares or hears our cries, the Lord is there and He loves us more than we could ever possibly image…
The psalmist knew the pits of despair, and the dark pits we get into…
They also knew how much God loves us, and protects and shelters those who take refuge under His wings and cry out to Him…
So in your dark pit, take heart, that God is right there with you, and loves you more than you could ever know…
