Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison—that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. (Colossians 4:2-6 ESV)
Paul tells the Colossians to continue steadfastly in prayer, to be thankful for what they have and to also while they pray for themselves they also pray for Paul and I would say for all of those who are spreading the word of God. Paul wants his words to be clear, and all who share the gospel to be seasoning, as is salt, to the world. That the things we say would be clearly understood and seen for what they are.
But Paul also tells the Colossians that their words should be gracious to show forth the love we have been given.
Steadfastly pray for all you have been given and all of your brothers and sisters in the word, even those you disagree with, and hold them up to God so that His will is done. Be thankful for all doing mission for the kingdom and pray steadfastly!
